It's the age of nostalgia and reboots are all the rage. Or, continuations, or squeals, or spin-offs, or follow-ups, or revivals, or whatever you want to call them. Think: And Just Like That, the Proud Family, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, How I Met Your Father, Fuller House, Degrassi, Saved By the Bell... the list goes on.
But what's more interesting, rather than the revivals themselves, is how they came to be. Not every show ended on good terms. Not every star wants to revisit their glory days. Take the And Just Like That situation. Three of the original four stars were jazzed to return... Kim Catrall not so much. The drama between the castmates has been back and forth between magazine articles for years, but it's the show revival that finally pushed it to a head.
REVIVAL is a show about a show, a revived show. Originally a teen phenomenon, ALBUQUERQUE-VILLE was canceled in 2004, after four seasons. The company line was "slipping ratings", but it's not a secret that the lead actors' controversies were the cause. Their drama became far more interesting than the lives of their characters. Scandal, secrets, in-fighting... all happening on the cusp of the internet tabloids.
But almost two decades later, the network is looking to revive ALBUQUERQUE-VILLE for their new streaming service. This means reuniting the cast... and that's where the real story is.
